Muted events

Mute an event

There may be situations where you are invited to (and RSVP “Yes” or “Maybe”) to a recurring event, but do not plan to join via the virtual meeting link.

  • You may be invited to an event that you don’t attend very often.
  • A recurring event may be serving the role of a reminder or placeholder for some work your team needs to get done, and has a meeting link attached, even though you don’t use it.
  • You might attend the meeting in person more often than not.

In these cases, you may want to mute Preminder for the recurring event series. For more information on how to create a recurring event on Google Calendar, check out Google’s Help Center article on the topic.

Currently, events can only be muted via their corresponding desktop notifications. To mute an event:

  1. Turn on desktop notifications
  2. When you get a desktop notification for the event series you’d like to mute, click the Options dropdown menu.
  3. Click Mute this event forever

View your list of muted events

You can view the events you previously muted by accessing the list from the extension window. To view your list of muted events:

  1. Click on the Preminder extension icon.
  2. Go to Settings > Muted events
  3. Click See full list

Un-mute one or more events

Events can be un-muted from your list of muted events.

  1. Access your muted events list
  2. Next to the event you would like to remove from the list (un-mute), click the trash can icon.

You can also un-mute events in bulk. To un-mute multiple events:

  1. Access your muted events list
  2. Check the checkboxes next to the events that you would like to un-mute
  3. Click Unmute all selected events
